The men are already doing the work. Now they are being asked to do more.
MAP is growing because people closest to the work can see its value. The next challenge is building the training, support, and funding needed to answer that call at scale.
Why PHIERS Matters
In 2012, PHIERS began working with school nurses and the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) on a school-nurse-led approach to health reform focused on the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. When school-nurse funding was cut, we had to change course to keep going. The need—and the vision—remained.

A vision carried forward through action
MAP's original vision was established in 1989: introduce school-aged children to working men whose jobs, trades, professions, and service offered examples beyond sports and entertainment. Organized implementation began later, leading to approximately 23 years of direct community work. MAP later became deeply connected with the Men's Healing Circle, where Black men across generations help one another heal, grow, accept accountability, and become stronger leaders for their families and communities.
We began by helping one another stand back up.
Black men across generations created room to heal spiritually, grow, accept accountability, and become dependable to one another. From that foundation came a renewed commitment to serve our children, support our families, and help lead our communities forward. We are not stepping forward to replace or speak over Black women. We are preparing ourselves to stand beside them as dependable partners—because our communities rise fastest when strong men and strong women work together with shared purpose.

Preparing more men to serve
MAP has been asked to prepare and bring more men into schools. As of September 2026, eight additional men are being prepared, with 62 prospective participants identified through local faith-based organizations.
Built on direct involvement
The men mentor, intervene, advocate, and help boys and young men build stronger paths forward. This is lived community work—not a theory created for a grant.

PCC serves as the fiscal sponsor and nonprofit home for approved PHIERS, MAP, PHIERWorks, and community work. Signed agreements allow PCC to receive and oversee funds for approved projects.

The PAM works wherever the public deserves an answer—from schools, districts, cities, and counties to state agencies, Congress, and any public office or agency that owes the people an answer. It drives the follow-through and holds decision-makers to the public record— tracking answers, promises, actions, results, and refusals.
